Whether they’re learning to defend themselves, building friendships, or simply having fun, your child will gain skills that will benefit them on and off the mats. Let us help your child discover their potential and gain the confidence to take on the world—one class at a time!

Our goal is to create an environment where every child feels welcome, valued, and capable of success.

As a parent, you want the best for your child—and we’re here to help. Our structured, engaging classes provide the perfect solution for keeping your child active, confident, and socially connected. Plus, Jiu Jitsu is a fun way to get exercise, learn new skills, and develop a lifelong love for movement and health.

But the benefits don’t stop there! Jiu Jitsu is about so much more than martial arts. It’s about helping kids grow into well-rounded individuals. Your child will improve their focus, discipline, and problem-solving skills while building meaningful relationships with their peers and instructors in a supportive team environment.

Through our program, your child will learn practical self-defense techniques that empower them to handle challenging situations with confidence and composure. We also address bullying prevention, teaching kids how to navigate and resolve conflicts while building resilience and self-esteem.

Our Kids Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program is designed to give children ages 6–13 a fun and safe space to grow, learn, and thrive. In our 45-minute classes, we focus on teaching the fundamentals of Jiu Jitsu while helping kids develop essential life skills like self-confidence, communication, and teamwork.

By starting Jiu Jitsu at a young age, your child gets a head start on understanding movement, discipline, and self-expression. Plus, it’s a great way to burn energy, have fun, and prepare them for a seamless transition to our Kids Jiu Jitsu program when they’re ready.

Parents love our Little Ninjas program because it’s not just about exercise; it’s about creating opportunities for kids to grow socially and emotionally. They’ll build connections with their peers and develop skills like patience, teamwork, and communication—all while having a blast on the mats.

Beyond the physical benefits, our Little Ninjas program is all about planting the seeds of self-confidence and perseverance. Your child will learn how to tackle challenges, celebrate their achievements, and feel proud of their progress. These early experiences set the foundation for personal growth and a positive mindset that will serve them throughout life.

At this age, children are sponges for learning and development. By starting Jiu Jitsu early, your child will gain essential motor skills, improve their focus, and begin to understand how to follow instructions and work within a group setting—all in a fun and encouraging atmosphere.

Our Little Ninjas program is the perfect introduction to Jiu Jitsu for kids ages 3–5! These 30-minute classes are all about helping your little one learn how to move their body, build confidence, and thrive in a structured environment. Through fun games and engaging activities, we introduce the fundamentals of grappling while focusing on balance, coordination, and body awareness.

Sparring – Be respectful of your training partners,  match their intensity and be careful of other groups on the mat. If you are looking for a training partner, raise your hand to indicate you are free. Do not ask Black Belts to roll, they will choose their training partners. Respect everyones option to say no without explanation.

Lower belts give way to higher belts – When sparring, if your training interferes with another group, the lower belts will relocate their training.

No Slamming – If you pick your partner up, you are responsible for getting them back to the mat safely.

Tap early and tap often – At Riverfront Jiu Jitsu, we do not train with an ego. There is no reason to get hurt, or injure a training partner. Respect the tap and release a submission immediately when your partner physically or verbally taps.

No coaching from the sidelines – We know it is tempting to help your child out during sparring but instruction from many voices is confusing! Please allow the coaches to instruct your child.

No talking during instruction– Please be respectful of our instructors time and expertise. Pay attention when the instructor is demonstrating the techniques.

Keep your gear clean and nails cut – Gi’s are wear once wash once. Please be courteous to your fellow students,  maintain clean gym gear and keep nails trimmed.

If you have a rash or skin infection, please do not come to class – These types of infection are easily transferred and highly contagious. Seek treatment early and return only once the rash or infection is controlled. Please note, ringworm, jock itch and athletes foot are all from the same bacteria and require treatment.

Gear – Proper gear must be worn to class. Sparring in striking class requires a mouthguard, boxing gloves, shin guards and an athletic cup where applicable.

Attire – Rash guards must be worn under Gi's. For No Gi classes please make sure your shorts do not have zippers or anything that can damage the mats. A rash guard is preferred. No loose fitting clothing.

Shoes MUST be worn to the bathroom – Once you leave the mat shoes should be put on immediately. Additionally, shoes must be worn in the shower.

No shoes on the mat – We do not want to risk transferring any bacteria onto our clean mats. Feel free to keep flip flops or slides at the gym.

Keep all gym gear on the bleachers – The seating area should be clear of all bags and shoes.  Water bottles can be kept at the edge of the mat.

Sign in – Please  check in  when you get to class on the BJJ Link app. Attendance plays a part in your progress and belt promotions.
